Import a Vehicle from Japan to Sri Lanka
Follow these simple steps to safely purchase and import your dream vehicle from Japan to Sri Lanka.
1. Choose a Trusted Exporter
Select a certified Japanese exporter such as BeForward, SBT Japan, or PicknBuy24.
2. Select Your Vehicle
Choose your car by make, model, year, mileage, and price from the exporter’s website.
3. Get a Proforma Invoice
The exporter will issue an invoice with vehicle and shipping details for confirmation.
4. Make Payment
Transfer the payment via bank wire (TT). Always confirm official bank details first.
5. Vehicle Shipping
Your car is shipped from Japan to Colombo (around 3–5 weeks) with insurance.
6. Customs Clearance
Hire a clearing agent to handle port and customs procedures in Sri Lanka.
7. Pay Taxes & Duties
Pay import, excise, and VAT charges according to vehicle type and engine capacity.
8. Register at RMV
